Our lodge is situated in the heart of the Orkla River valley, 47 kilometers from the estuary. We offer guided fishing on nearly six kilometers of private water, comprising 17 different beats. This provides guests with exclusive access to one of the largest stretches of private water available in any Norwegian salmon river and some of the most attractive pools on the Orkla River.
Our expert guides are passionate about salmon fishing and possess an intimate knowledge of our waters, ensuring you have the best chance of catching the trophy fish of your dreams. Whether you're a seasoned angler or just starting out, we'll tailor our services to your individual needs and preferences, guaranteeing an unforgettable fishing experience. Guests are welcomed to fish on their designated beats at any time, whether it's before breakfast or after dinner.
A typical day in our salmon fishing paradise
A day at Grindal begins with breakfast at 09:00, offering a selection of local cheeses, cold meats, and eggs cooked to your liking. You can enjoy your lunch by the river or return to the lodge for a break. A three-course dinner is served at 19:30. Everything is included in our rates except for alcoholic beverages. We boast a small but captivating wine list, along with locally crafted beers that are simply delightful.
At Grindal Salmon Lodge, we are dedicated to using only the freshest, highest quality ingredients in our cuisine. Our talented chefs collaborate closely with local producers to source the best in-season ingredients, crafting delicious meals that highlight the flavors of the surrounding countryside.
After a day on the water, unwind in one of our cozy cabins, each equipped with all the amenities to make you feel right at home. Every guest has a private bedroom with shared access to the living room and kitchenette. WIFI is available in all cabins and the restaurant area.

How to get there
Most of our foreign guests arrive by plane at Trondheim airport. We can arrange transfers, but renting a car offers more flexibility while fishing with us. From the airport, it's about a 1 hour and 50-minute drive to the lodge. For directions, click here.
Essentials
We have a small tackle shop on-site with a good selection of flies, leaders, fly lines, and some clothing. We don't stock waders, boots, rods, or reels, but if you inform us of your needs when you book, we can arrange for almost anything.
